Since 2008, Don Bosco Anbu Illam’s Reception Unit has been a safe home for children in need of care and protection.
Children rescued through Childline, street contact, police, and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit are brought here with
Child Welfare Committee orders.
Providing temporary shelter from 1 week to 90 days, we offer food, clothing, recreation, non-formal education, and psychological support. Between 2008 and 2020, we have rehabilitated 3,383 children.
The Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) is a central government program to create a protective environment for vulnerable children through Government–Civil Society partnership. Since 2010, DBAI has implemented the ICPS Open Shelter Scheme under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, following state regulations.
We identify children who have left their homes through our Street Contact Centre and bring them to the Open Shelter,
where we provide temporary care until they can be reunited with their parents.
Since 1995, DBAI has maintained a street presence in prominent locations of Coimbatore to protect runaway and street
children from anti-social elements and child labour.
We currently operate Street Contact Centers in Ukkadam, Singanallur Bus Stand, Gandhipuram Bus Stand, and Pollachi Bus Stand.
These centers help us rescue children in real-time and offer them immediate support.
CBOs ensure children’s welfare and rights in the 20 slums & tribal areas of Coimbatore through various initiatives to create a child-friendly society.
Substance abuse among children has become a concern throughout the world. Rapid industrialization, urbanization, and changing lifestyles have left children struggling for survival, pushing many into the dark world of substance abuse. DBAI has taken initiatives to reduce substance abuse among children through prevention and treatment programmes.
This project provides a safe living environment, proper infrastructure, safe water, sanitation, hygiene, proper education, and economic opportunities for migrants living in Coimbatore district.
We achieve this through direct implementation and advocacy with government departments, involving beneficiaries with support from stakeholders.
www.childmiss.org is a web tool to ensure standardized documentation in each organization and to develop an information management system and network.
It contributes to speed, process, systems, and knowledge, ensuring care, protection, and opportunities for the growth and development of vulnerable children.
